Day 7: A Photo That Makes Me Happy
Day 7: A Photo That Makes Me Happy

I have no idea what is going on in this photo, but it makes me laugh every time. Declan was very, very drunk. Shortly thereafter, we tried to get into a stripclub that charged 20 Euros cover, and his drunk friend got chided by the bouncer: "You better keep an eye on that guy", after trying to convince the bouncer that we shouldn't have to pay cover for their shitty bar. Good times.

Day 6: My Biggest Pet Peeve
Day 6: My Biggest Pet Peeve

People who speak to me, or others, condescendingly. I hate, hate, HATE condescension from ANYONE, and I find that those most likely to speak condescendingly, have the least right to do so.

It was the worst in Subway. Knowing that I was 6 credits from having a degree, and being talked down to like I had an IQ of 43 by some fake-titted Roxy-wearing patch wife whose biggest achievement in life was laying on her back and getting knocked up by a guy rich enough to buy her an Escalade/Hummer REALLY stuck in my craw in the worst way imaginable.

A close second would be texting on a cellphone during: class, while at dinner with people, while hanging out with friends, etc. Seriously, you are surrounded by interesting, engaging, and sometimes emotionally close people, and you'd rather type "LOL WHUT U DOIN NOTIN IM IN CLASS LOL LOL LOL" brings me to the brink of strangulation. It's the height of fucking rudeness.

    Day 5: My Favourite Quote
    Day 5: My Favourite Quote

"The biggest challenge facing the great teachers and communicators of history is not to teach history itself, nor even the lessons of history, but why history matters. How to ignite the first spark of the will o'the wisp, the Jack o'lantern, the ignis fatuus [foolish fire] beloved of poets, which lights up one source of history and then another, zigzagging across the marsh, connecting and linking and writing bright words across the dark face of the present. There's no phrase I can come up that will encapsulate in a winning sound-bite why history matters. We know that history matters, we know that it is thrilling, absorbing, fascinating, delightful and infuriating, that it is life. Yet I can't help wondering if it's a bit like being a Wagnerite; you just have to get used to the fact that some people are never going to listen."
    - Stephen Fry

"History is orphan. It can speak, but cannot hear. It can give, but cannot take. Its wounds and tragedies can be read and known, but cannot be avoided or cured."
    — Kedar Joshi

"But more than that, he taught me something about good nature. It is enough to be benign, to be gentle, to be funny, to be kind."
    — Stephen Fry

Time to apply for a job?

I honestly feel kind of overwhelmed. I know that I am (soon to be) certified, and I've completed my education and I have technically trained for this job, and even so, the thought of actually being responsible for three classes for a full semester seems really overwhelming and frightening. Might as well put my name in, since I imagine there'll be a fair bit competition anyway.

I actually have a big pit in the bottom of my stomach from this. Durr.

I left the house this morning and said to myself: "Wow! It's wonderfully mild today!"

    It was -20C.

    30 Days Meme: Day 3
Day 3: My Favourite Television Program

There are four that I watch regularly, and plan to watch.

South Park, no question. It can get a bit preachy at times, but man when it is good it is GOOD.

House MD. This season's premier was effin' amazing. I really love all the characters, I love the moral dilemmas, and I love the dialogue.

This is definitely my guilty pleasure! I love the crazy photoshoots and all the drama between the girls. The Canadian version is really good too. :)

And finally, my all time favourite reality show. I know Gordon Ramsey totally plays up the drama for his American audience, but I don't even care. I canNOT miss this show when it's on!

    30 Days Meme: Day 2
    Day 2: My Favourite Movie

Ah shit, this is a tough one.

    On pure rewatchability and joy?

I love the music, I love the imagery, I love the story, I love the characters, I love Nicole Kidman's breathy performance. . .

    30 Days Meme: Day 1
What was that, flist? You don't think I post enough? I have an idea: jump onto the bandwagon of this overly complex meme that everyone is doing!

    Day 1: My Favourite Song

    Without question, it is . . .

    Or, conversely:

    Or even:

It was played at the bar my first night in Ireland, Declan proposed to me in Galway, and it got played maybe. . . three times at my wedding. Every time I hear it I can't do anything but smile.

    Of the moment, though?

Total guilty pleasure, lol. What can I say, I love:
    - sexually blatant songs
    - Lady Gaga
    - heavy beat
    - is that Native singing? LOL WHUT
